Lightning Struck causes Great Damages

22 Feb, Tronoh _ Lightning had caused great damages to Universiti Teknoligi Petronas (UTP), a prominent private engineering and technology university 350 km northern of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. It happened at midnight when it rain heavily. The strong wind, the lightning and the rain had caused buildings, facilities and vehicles damaged. According to sources, 53 cars are knocked down by trees and some of the roof of the buildings are damaged. Some students encountered great loss when their car was damaged and the university won’t give them insurance. The academic building, Block N, Block K and Block I were closed down because the ceilings are broken and the authorities are taking safety precautions by cancelling all the classes that happen on the academic building.

       The UTP security department has put out a notice saying that all of the students should be cautious and not to go out from their hostel unless there is an emergency case. The UTP has been reported to loss RM15000 for all of the damages not including the repairing.
