Horrifying Car Crash Leaves Two Dead, One Injured
23 February 2011, Tronoh – Two local students were found dead while a third student was seriously injured here in UTP, a very well-known private university 350km northern of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. The incident occurred in broad daylight, while the trio were in a car, about to drive out of campus. Eyewitness, Hanif Norman, 20, saw the Proton Saga went out of control and hit a tree, which then fell on top of the car.
Other witnesses who saw the incident quickly notified the authorities, and the Fire and Police Department arrived moments later. Victims Mohd Ariffin, 22, the driver, and the passenger seated in front, Zhariff Ahmad, 21, died on the spot. The other passenger, Amira Alya, 21, was seriously injured and is currently treated at Ipoh General Hospital. The UTP administration expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, and adamantly pressed their concern to take more serious action to ensure the road safety around campus is secure.
