Nottingham or UTP

Nottingham or UTP

If you are given a choice to become a  student of either Nottingham or UTP, which university will you choose? Both UTP and Nottingham are private university.UTP  was a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil company of Malaysia. University Technology  PETRONAS (UTP) was established on 10 January 1997 when PETRONAS was invited by the Malaysian government to set up a university.UTP is still a very new university. Nottingham campus in Malaysia is an overseas campus of the University of Nottingham. The Malaysia Campus was the first campus of a British University in Malaysia and one of the first to open outside Britain thus earning the distinction of the Queen's Awards for Enterprise 2001 and the Queen's Award for Industry. In my opinion , i will choose UTP as it produce well-rounded students. This essay will tell about the reason that i choose UTP instead of Nottingham campus and i wll explain it in 3 aspect which is finance, environment and system.
UTP is a private university but its tuition fee is slightly cheaper than many other private university. Normally, one student will spend within RM80000 to complete their bachelor in engineering. This price is cheaper among all technology university. Of course, Nottingham 's tuition fee is higher than UTP. Students in UTP only have to spend not more than RM50 per month for their accommodation but students in Nottingham have to spend at least RM300 per month for their accommodation. Yet, students who study in UTP easier to get Petronas scholarship compared to students in other university. Nottingham is comparable expensive and very rare scholarship was offered.

UTP is a big university ,its size is much larger than Nottingham campus. The quantity of students in UTP is little, UTP just have around 6000 students.UTP recruit a small amount of students for each year although the university is big enough to fix more students because they attach importance to quality of students more than quantity.UTP provide students a good environment to study. UTP is located at a rural place which 45minutes drive from Ipoh city. The air in UTP is fresher and not polluted as what most of the city does.UTP have a lot of lake and this form a very beautiful view.
Frankly, Nottingham provide better facilities for students. Its located in the city .Students in Nottingham can easily find entertainment and get their daily needs. Students in Nottingham have a lot of entertainment in Kuala Lumpur city. In my opinion, the purpose we go for university is for study and not simply enjoying and find for entertainment. So, different in entertainment aspect is not a big deal.
UTP produced well rounded students who are excellent in technical competence, lifelong learning capacity, critical thinking, communication and behavioral skills, business acumen, practical aptitude and solution synthesis ability. UTP does not simply put their effort on academic only. However, UTP does not provide linking programme as Nottingham campus do. Nottingham campus provided linking programme to University Nottingham in United Kingdom which means that students have a great chance to study overseas. University Nottingham is one of the top 100 university in the world but it is also expensive. Students in UTP will having 8 months internship which is 4 months longer than others university. Students in UTP also have chances to have their internship at other country such as America, France, United Kingdom. This is a good way for students to learn to apply their knowledge in practical and students will able to learn a lot of other knowledge through the eight month internship.
Lastly, UTP is a university where will satisfy most of the local students .UTP seems more satisfy me in their finance , environment and system aspect. UTP is a university where produced much excellent engineer. If you wished to become an engineer, you should come to UTP. I hope that in many years later, UTP will increase its ranking in the world ranking and become one of the well known university in global.
